Family, self-esteem, and
kangaroos facts
Subjects:
The length of the MDU
will cover approximately 5-7 days for 30/45 minute time slot and include:
Second Grade Level Reading, Science, Spelling, Geography, and Math. It meets many of the South Dakota State
Standards.
Goals:
This
unit was created to develop for my student’s exposure to feelings within
families, kangaroo facts, research a topic using the computer, review
contractions and reading enjoyment.
Resources and assessments:
Book: The
One in the Middle Is the Green Kangaroo by Judy Blume, Teacher Created
Materials, Inc., teacher created worksheets on contractions, quiz, comprehension
test, observation of reading skills and language skills.

the author, Judy Blume, and the book The One in the Middle I Green Kangaroo.
Introduce the Spelling words for the week from the story.
